Kevin Spacey broke his silence Monday with a bizarre video address that sees the actor defending himself against the #MeToo allegations made against him while in character as his famously ruthless House of Cards character, Frank Underwood.
The poorly timed video, “Let Me Be Frank,” was shared from Spacey’s official Twitter account as news was breaking that the disgraced actor will face a charge of felony sexual assault and will be arraigned in Massachusetts on Jan. 7. The alleged assault on a teenage male victim took place at a Nantucket bar in July 2016.
In the video, Spacey re-assumes the Southern accent, demeanor and fourth wall-breaking style of Frank, the character he played for five seasons on House of Cards, to speak directly to the camera. The Netflix political thriller, starring Robin Wright, wrote Spacey out of its sixth and final season after he was fired over mounting sexual misconduct allegations. The series that he formerly executive produced killed his character offscreen; the streaming giant also officially buried Francis J. “Frank” Underwood at a gravesite in South Carolina where fans can pay their respects.
The video marks Spacey’s first public comments since his initial and widely criticized response to the allegations made by actor Anthony Rapp in October, 2017, at the height of the #MeToo movement. The actor used the apology statement to also come out as gay.
Spacey is still under investigation in Los Angeles and in England for other alleged sexual assaults.
“I know what you want. You want me back,” Spacey, wearing a Santa apron, says in the three-minute monologue posted Monday. In addition to defending himself against an “impeachment without trial,” the actor references his House of Cards fate: “All this presumption made for such an unsatisfying ending, and to think it could have been such a memorable sendoff…. I can promise you this. If I didn’t pay the price for the things we both know I did do, I’m certainly not going to pay the price for the things I didn’t do.”
He ends the video by saying, “Conclusions can be deceiving. Miss me?”

The reactions to Spacey’s “creepy” Christmas Eve video were swift on social media.
Rapp himself replied to a tweet from Patricia Arquette about the video. “I’m sure none of the men who were kids at the time of their sexual assaults appreciate @KevinSpacey ‘s weird video. No. Just No,” wrote Arquette. Rapp replied with a hashtag “truth.”
Netflix had no comment on the video.

Kevin Spacey is sending a very disturbing message as he chastises his audience… if you hypocrites loved me as a murderer, why won’t you love me as a sex offender? Maybe because Frank Underwood’s crimes are fiction and Kevin Spacey’s are not. #LostInSpacey

Kevin spacey has apparently lost his mind what an absurd video..this is only the beginning. There are many more victims.. Epstein’s island ..anyone ? What people don’t get is …that the truth will rise to the top. All Lying Bad guys may finish last ,but they’re finished.

The one positive aspect of the Kevin Spacey video is that we can all point to it and say, “That’s what happens when you don’t have a screenwriter.”
