A pregnant and glowing Blake Lively made her first public appearance as a momma-to-be on Thursday night at the 2014 Golden Heart Awards, held at New York City’s Spring Studios.
The actress, who is expecting her first child with husband Ryan Reynolds, wore a long-sleeved, nude-hued Michael Kors gown embellished with lilac and champagne details, to the evening that honored Les Moonves and Anna Wintour. Although she was the last to pose in front of the flower-covered backdrop at the Michael Kors event, she dished to reporters a few reflections on her pregnancy thus far:
She’s free of cravings. Seriously. When Pret-a-Reporter asked her what her weirdest dish-based wish has been over the past few months, she shook her head and said, “I haven’t had anything so far.”
She’s big on baths. What’s always in her tub? “Lots of good bath salts, because they actually make a difference.”
She’s not thinking about her closet. Rarely seen out while pregnant, the Preserve founder may not be as fashion-focused as people would presume. “I’m gonna amp up my style by wearing things that are stretchier, because that’s all that fits.” (Whatever that ends up being, it’ll probably sell out immediately, like her first bun-in-the-oven outfit.)
She’s not necessarily changed. “I don’t know that it’s changed me. It’s something that I’ve always wanted ever since I was a little girl. I never knew what I wanted to do for a living, but I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I come from a big family. That was always important to me. So it’s just the excitement of that finally being here.”
She’s got a great in-house support system. “He’s always good to me,” she said of Reynolds. “You want to be able to complain about your husband, but he takes pretty good care of me.”
And as a bonus, Lively was asked by reporters about her beauty role model, and she reflected on the DIY attitude of her mother. “I remember one time, she didn’t have any makeup and she had to go somewhere. She licked an Advil and used that as blush, and then she found an ashtray and used it as eye shadow — but looked amazing! I don’t advise doing that at home, but she was someone who always made something out of nothing.”
