Talking Heads, Television, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, the Dictators and other bands that played significant roles in the New York rock ‘n’ roll scene of the mid-1970s will appear on CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Omnivore Recordings will release the collection Oct. 8.
Besides the CD, Omnivore will release a double LP of the soundtrack, with the first pressing on translucent pink vinyl. Rhino will release a deluxe digital version with an expanded playlist the same day. Brad Rosenberger, one of the film’s producers and its music supervisor, is a principal in Omnivore.

The film CBGB tells the story of club owner Hilly Krystal, played by Alan Rickman, and the rise of the punk rock scene within the walls of the club in New York’s seedy Bowery neighborhood. After premiering at the CBGB Festival, the film will open Oct. 11 in theaters in New York, Los Angeles and other select cities.
The Dead Boys, the Police and Blondie are among the acts depicted in the film who also appear on the soundtrack. The album contains a performance by Kristal (“Birds and the Bees”) and a new version of “Sunday Girl” by Blondie.
