As Bravo expands its programming slate to include scripted series, the network has tapped Andrew Wang for the newly created position of vp of scripted development and production. Based in Los Angeles, Wang will report toe Eli Lehrer, vp of development and original programming.
Wang comes to Bravo from Alloy Entertainment where as vp of TV development and production he had a hand in managing such young and female skewing series including Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars.
“Andrew has helped develop some of the most entertaining pop culture hits and we look forward to him bringing his creativity and experience to the network as we break new ground and move into scripted content,” said Lehrer in a statement.
Bravo plans to have its first scripted series on the air by 2013. The network’s plans mirror those of E! Entertainment, which also is pushing into scripted. Both networks are now under one roof since Comcast took a controlling interest of NBC Universal.
