TORONTO – Canada’s Bristow Global Media (BGM) is betting U.S. viewers will embrace a feel-good TV series about letters to the president.
The Toronto-based indie producer has inked a deal with format outfit Small World IFT for the North American format rights to Letters to The President, an original series developed with the White House.
The one-hour wish-fulfillment series features real letters to the president from Americans in need of solutions to real-life problems.
Each hour features community organizers working through the government to help families and communities.
“Letters to The President is a powerful format, with social and political relevance, that will give a never-before-seen glimpse into the White House,” said Bristow Global Media president and CEO Julie Bristow in a statement.
Bristow also acquired, from Small World IFT, the Canadian rights to Romania’s Media Factory format Miss Country Girl, which already has local versions in Romania, Ukraine and Thailand and has been optioned in 11 other countries.
Bristow was a top programming executive at the CBC, Canada’s public broadcaster, before recently launching Bristow Global Media.
