Pride Still Cannes - H 2014
Courtesy of Festival de CannesCBS Films has acquired U.S. rights to Pride, the acclaimed British dramedy that made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film will begin rolling out in theaters on Sept. 19.

British director Matthew Warchus‘ second feature, Pride recounts the true story of how gay and lesbian activists helped U.K. miners during the lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers that began in summer 1984 during Margaret Thatcher‘s tenure as prime minister.
Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Paddy Considine and Andrew Scott lead the cast.

From a script by Stephen Beresford, Pride reveals how the miners initially rebuffed the efforts of the London-based activists who, undeterred, traveled to a tiny village in Wales to donate the money they had raised in person.
David Livingstone produced Pride, with Cameron McCracken, Christine Langan and Natascha Wharton executive producing.
