The Death of Stalin, Armando Iannucci’s all-star period satire, emerged as the main winner as the British Independent Film Awards unveiled the winners in its inaugural craft categories on Thursday.
The film took home three awards, including best casting for Sarah Crowe, best production design for Cristina Casali and best makeup and hair design for Nicole Stafford.
Elsewhere, Lady Macbeth won best costume design for Holly Waddington and best cinematography for Ari Wegner, while Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri landed best editing for Jon Gregory and best music by Carter Burwell. Gregory had previously been BIFA-nominated for editing Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges.
Anna Bertmark won best sound for her work on God’s Own Country, with Nick Allder and Ben White winning best effects for The Ritual.
The BIFA awards ceremony featuring the full set of awards will be held Dec. 10 in London, with Sherlock writer and star Mark Gatiss on hosting duties.
