Bryan Cranston referred to 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump as “refreshing.”
In The Nerdist‘s Monday podcast, the Breaking Bad star spoke with host Chris Hardwick about a variation of topics, including the actor’s fame, the AMC show and bowling — which turned to Trump.
Hardwick shared that he wanted to form a program about the historical importance of bowling because his father said he was treated like royalty when he played the game professionally, CNN reported.
Cranston said in reply to the pitch, “Maybe when President Trump is inaugurated.”

Hardwick questioned Cranston: “Who’s he really up against at this point? He’s made so much noise.”
“I actually like his candor,” Cranston said before imitating the former Apprentice star: “‘You’re an idiot. I’m a winner, you’re a loser.'”
“There’s something so refreshing about shaking up that world that is all about being handled, and here comes this loose cannon who has terrible ideas and would be a horrible president, but there’s something great about his ‘I-don’t-give-a-s—’ attitude that really kind of keeps others honest,” Cranston said. “I think it’s a surprise benefit to the country, actually.”
In reference to the GOP debates, Cranston said, “I can’t wait to see these and many more,” before saying of Trump, “I hope he stays in for a long, long time. And just collapses that whole tent of his.”
Trump talk begins at 1:16:20 in the audio below.
