CAA Signs ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Director Alan Taylor (Exclusive)

CAA has signed award-winning film and television director Alan Taylor, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. He was previously at UTA.

Taylor most recently helmed the Marvel sequel Thor: The Dark World, which went on to gross $645 million worldwide. He is now in post on Paramount and Skydance’s Terminator: Genisys, starring Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

These two blockbuster projects have come on the heels of an acclaimed body of television work. Taylor won an Emmy in 2007 for directing the “Kennedy and Heidi” episode of The Sopranos, and was nominated by the Television Academy two more times: outstanding drama for Game of Thrones (for which he served as a co-executive producer) and outstanding directing for Mad Men’s instant-classic pilot “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.” That pilot episode also earned him a DGA Award (he was nominated again the following year for directing season two’s “The Mountain King”).

Other celebrated series that Taylor has directed include Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death, Nurse Jackie, In Treatment, Big Love, Rome, Deadwood, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, The West Wing, Homicide: Life on the Street and Oz.
