Vanity FairCaitlyn Jenner now is explaining why she chose “Caitlyn” above any other name — and why she specifically decided to spell it with a “C” instead of her family’s traditional “K.”
“It’s one of the hardest things in life — choosing your own name,” Jenner told Vanity Fair. She said she began her name search more than two years ago and would watch the Miss America pageant for inspiration. Caitlyn was the name that stuck out to her the most, although she also considered Heather and Cathy.
Coincidentally, Jenner’s assistant, Ronda, also suggested “Caitlyn,” and that helped cement Jenner’s decision.
Jenner then fluctuated between spelling it with a “K” or “C” but ultimately decided to distinguish herself from the Kardashian-Jenner family by using a “C.”
