Andy Warhol’s silver Factory had nothing on Calvin Klein Collection’s bevy of gorgeous golden boys in a wall-to-wall eveningwear presentation Wednesday night. Designer Italo Zucchelli’s fall 2016 capsule collection of gilded and foiled tuxedo looks brought a wicked formal flash, right down to the metallic lace-up shoes.
And standing shirtless on a mirrored platform in a painted-on pair of gold leather jeans for his debut show, model Will Hawkins was a dead ringer for famed Warhol superstar Joe Dellesandro of ‘70s underground film classics like Trash and Heat.

A little more than six months ago, Hawkins, 20, was “an electrician taking night classes in Memphis.” After an Instagram-propelled flurry of interest, he moved to New York and hooked up with Soul Artist Management, the leading industry agency for mesmeric male models. Now, he’s been making the rounds with his support dog Luna, a black lab/Weimaraner mix, and next thing you know he’s literally up on a pedestal for the whole men’s fashion world.
“At first when I moved to New York, it was shocking and so different,” he said, with a bewildering array of things to do compared to Memphis. “But two weeks later I called my mom and said, ‘I’m never coming back.’ “
When designer Zucchelli was asked if perhaps his collection — with its tuxedos worn shirtless or over gauzy black T-shirts — might liven up red carpets like the Oscars’ this time of year, he said, “I always think of that. There are a few guys who could pull this off. They need to be a little looser.”
