TORONTO – Toronto International Film Festival boss Cameron Bailey will curate a new weekly film series at Bell Lightbox, the festival’s year-round home.
Bailey, who last month became artistic director at TIFF, will partner with Noah Cowan, artistic director of Bell Lightbox, to program “Reel Talk: Contemporary World Cinema,” a weekly showcase of global films, many foreign-language titles, that are unlikely to be released at the local multiplex.
The joint programming duties by Bailey and Cowan is the latest sign of an increasing alignment between the marquee annual film festival and Bell Lightbox and its year-round activities.
Bailey will continue to oversee the overall programming and operations at the annual September festival, working with TIFF topper Piers Handling and other film programmers.
