TORONTO – Canadian broadcaster CTV has embraced the dating genre to snag possible new hits for its summer schedule.
CTV acquired Fox’s new dating series Take Me Out, hosted by George Lopez, and NBC’s adventure dating series Love in the Wild, hosted by Jenny McCarthy.
Produced by FremantleMedia and based on the British format, Take Me Out will bow on CTV on June 14, after a sneak peek preview on June 10.
The Canadian network also picked up NBC’s Love in the Wild, a dating competition series from producer Endemol USA to bow here with a two-hour premiere on June 7.
And CTV will simulcast from June 18 another new acquisition, ABC’s Big Brother-style competition series The Glass House.
At the same time, CTV’s big summer draw will be its Canadian coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games from July 27 and run to August 12.
CTV is the lead broadcaster in Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, which also aired the 2010 Winter Olympic Games from Vancouver.
