Canadian broadcaster Rogers Media has extended its TV deal with the Grammy Awards.
The current-three year deal for exclusive Canadian broadcast rights to the annual Grammy telecast has added another two years. The new agreement, to run through 2018, includes the live awards ceremony and The Grammy Nomination Concert Live event.
The deal extension follows the CBS telecast on Sunday night drawing a record-breaking 2.64 million total average viewers on City, up from last year’s previous high of 2.54 million average viewers, according to Numeris data. Sunday night’s Canadian Grammys telecast peaked at 3.68 million viewers during Madonna’s performance of her new single “Living for Love.”
The new Canadian TV deal was negotiated by Alfred Haber Inc., the Grammys’ international distributor, in association with The Recording Academy.
