TORONTO – Canadian broadcaster Rogers Media has a new top U.S. series buyer at the LA Screenings.
Hayden Mindell has been promoted from director of programming to the top series development and production post at Rogers Media, which runs the City network.
On Tuesday, Mindell was named as vp TV programming and content, replacing Malcolm Dunlop, who departed as executive vp TV programming and operations on Aug. 30.
Mindell, who joined Rogers Media in 2001, moves from serving as Dunlop’s right-hand man to overseeing programming for Rogers Media’s conventional and cable TV assets, which include five City local TV stations and another five OMNI-branded multicultural TV stations.
In his new role, Mindell also will lead the U.S. rookie and returning series buying team for Rogers Media at the LA Screenings in May.
“Hayden has a unique combination of programming expertise, multiplatform vision and business acumen. He will provide great leadership in an ever-changing broadcast environment in Canada,” Scott Moore, president of broadcast at Rogers Media, said in a statement.
The network has yet to name a replacement for Claire Freeland as director of programming at Rogers Media Television.
Freeland is due to leave Rogers Media on Sept. 30 and the network has been searching for her successor.
News of the new organizational structure at Rogers Media was announced internally on Tuesday afternoon.
