Carey Mulligan married Marcus Mumford of the band Mumford & Sons over the weekend in England, and she wore a cream, custom-made Prada gown. Her mother and her bridesmaids also wore custom made Prada (in shades of blue) — and Carey’s always been a Prada girl since she stepped out to promote An Education a number of years ago. On May 7, the newleywed will co-host The Met Costume Ball’s new exhibit on Prada and Schiaparelli with Anna Wintour, and you can bet your Prada bag and shoes she’ll be wearing the Italian label again.
So far, there are no photos of the nuptuals at all, with Vogue U.K. having the most comprehensive coverage. One report says she walked down the aisle in pink Wellington rain boots, because it was drizzling (apparently lucky for a wedding) in Somerset, England, where the wedding took place with guests Sienna Miller, Colin Firth and Jake Gyllenhaal. The idea of pink Wellies under a cream Prada gown is actually very very cool — and Carey is a fashion original, that’s for sure.
Some reports say Adele actually performed. But all the details are hush-hush so far. We don’t expect that to last long. There were 150 people there, and many celebs – sooner or later, someone’s going to spill the glamourous beans.
The groom also wore custom Prada – and while Mulligan and Mumford had only dated for five months when they got engaged, they actually met as children through their respective churches. How sweet is that?
