Todd Haynes’ 1950s romantic drama Carol has added to its growing haul of nominations as awards season continues to ramp up.
The film received seven mentions from the London Critics’ Circle film section, announced Tuesday, including one for film of the year and two actress of the year noms for Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
Elsewhere, Andrew Haigh’s acclaimed 45 Years, which won awards for its stars Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay at the Berlin International Film Festival, earned six nominations, with Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant and Steve Jobs following close behind with five each.

Tom Hardy was a multiple nominee, shortlisted in the lead actor category for Legend, in the supporting actor race for The Revenant and for best British actor for his entire body of work in 2015 (which includes no less than five film releases).
The awards ceremony is set to take place in London’s May Fair Hotel on Jan. 17. The 2015 awards saw Richard Linklater’s Boyhood taek home best film and best director honors.
