American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, judge Jennifer Lopez and Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood were among those who turned out Monday to honor Idol creator Simon Fuller as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Also among the crowd were Idol judge Randy Jackson; Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe; Lopez’s husband, Marc Anthony;Season 7 winner David Cook; and Idol’s Season 10 finalists.
“It’s been an amazing 10 years at American Idol, and there are quite a bit of people who put this show on,” Seacrest said from the podium. “It is a close-knit family, and we say thank you and congratulations on this well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Underwood also paid tribute to Fuller.
“You have earned this, you deserve this more than anybody I know, and behalf of all the lives you have changed forever, thank you so much,” the country singer said.
For his part, Fuller said it was a bit surreal to be the center of attention for a change.
“You have no idea how bizarre, strange, awkward and many other words I feel right now because I’m usually sitting over there, or back there, or up there, and very rarely find myself in the spotlight,” he said, then quipped: “Actually it’s great. I think I should do my own reality show.”
Fuller received the 2,441st star on the Walk of Fame.
