Cate Blanchett has revealed that she would like a cameo role on Downton Abbey, according to Digital Spy.
In an interview to promote Cinderella on ITV’s Lorraine, the Oscar-winning actress said that she had spoken with her agent and people involved in the hit period drama about the cameo but hadn’t heard anything, joking that she would follow up with co-star and Downton regular Lily James.
“I did have words, and I followed up with my agent. No call has yet been received — but I’m seeing the girls again today, so I’ll get them to put a good word in,” said Blanchett.

In other Downton news, the Radio Times reports that the shows creator and writer Julian Fellowes is done answering questions of when the show will end.
With the sixth season currently in production, speculation has been rife that it may be the last ever of Downton. The speculation has been given added impetus after Maggie Smith said the sixth season would be her last and the news that Fellowes will begin work on NBC’s The Gilded Age.
At an INTV panel in Jerusalem, audience members were reportedly banned from asking questions about when Downton will end. Fellowes also banned questions about Smith and her admission that she is leaving after the sixth season. “You can ask those; we just won’t answer,” said Fellowes.
