Tech companies are making a major fashion statement at this year’s CES.
Intel is teaming up with the CFDA, Barneys New York and Opening Ceremony for wearable tech, it was announced Monday at CES.
The project, presented by Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, will include a smart wristwatch designed by Opening Ceremony and sold at luxury retailer Barneys. Intel also will work with the CFDA to pair tech developers with its designer members to develop new products.

“The collaborations we announced today are indicative of Intel’s collective and conscious approach to the wearable market,” said Ayse Ildeniz, vp business development and strategy of Intel’s New Devices Group, in a statement. “Through these initiatives, we will combine Intel’s leading technologies with Opening Ceremony’s design prowess, Barneys New York’s track record to identify the next consumer trends, and CFDA’s commitment to advance innovation within the fashion industry. Our shared vision is to accelerate wearable technology innovation and create products that both enhance peoples’ lives and are desirable to wear.”
Another tech-related fashion collab announced at CES was Tory Burch‘s partnership with Fitbit, a tech brand focused on building health and fitness products. The luxury label will design a collection of accessories, including pendants, bracelets and wristbands, for the Fitbit Flex fitness tracker. The range is expected to release this spring.
British software developer CSR also debuted its Bluetooth Smart jewelry, a line of pendant-style necklaces that will be able to connect to smartphones. The collection, designed with boutique jeweler Cellini, will alert wearers of any new notifications from their iPhone in iOS7. CSR plans to test Android applications that will allow its users to have the same experience.
