The Goldbergs premiered in the U.S. in September 2013 with an audience of more than 11 million, and the first season averaged 7 million viewers across its 23-episode run. The family comedy stars Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids) and George Segal (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?)
The series is based loosely on showrunner Adam Goldberg’s own upbringing in the 1980s and is told from the perspective of youngest child Adam (Sean Giambrone).
Said Mike Wald, executive vp international distribution for Sony Pictures Television: “The Goldbergs have already proved to be immensely popular with viewers in the U.S. with the show’s brilliant blend of humor, nostalgia and original storytelling. Following our recent sale of hit comedy Marry Me, it will make a great addition to E4’s new year programming.”
