With Charlie Sheen embarking on a media blitz over the past few days, several bloggers and journalists have found him ripe for parody.
Multiple spoofs have sprung up over the past few days, ranging from video parodies cobbling together some of Sheen’s more outrageous comments to a “Sheen, Beck or Qaddafi?” game.
The latter, posted by New York Magazine, consists of a quiz designed to test your knowledge of who — Sheen, Fox News’ Glenn Beck or Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi — said what quotes. They included:
— “I ask you to prepare because your world is about to change overnight.” (Beck)
— “They have awoken a sleeping giant. If I’m misunderstood after yesterday then people are worse off than I thought.” (Sheen)
— “I have no authority stemming from laws or decisions or anything else, I just have moral authority. I only have moral authority.” (Qaddafi)
ESPN’s Page 2 blog has posted a similar quiz, theirs pitting Sheen’s quotes against Mike Tyson’s. They include:
— “Clearly, I have defeated this earthworm with my words — imagine what I would have done with my fire-breathing fists.” (Sheen)
— “My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. Praise be to Allah!” (Tyson)
Meanwhile, LiveTheSheenDream.com has compiled a list of Sheen’s most recent quotes on a layout that includes simply Sheen’s headshot and the quote (you click his head to get the next quote).
Quotes include:
— “Can’t is the cancer of happen.”
— “I’m bi-winning. I win here, and I win there.”
— “She was attacking me with a small fork.”
— “Touch my children and I will eat your hands off your arms.”
(There also is a link to purchase a T-shirt featuring one of the quotes.)
Sheen Family Circus, which features the tagline “If Billy, Dolly, Jeffy and PJ lived like Charlie Sheen,” takes Bil Keane’s classic comic strip and rewrites it with some of Sheen’s recent quotes.
In one, for example, Billy is telling Dolly: “Publicly, while licking my feet! To have people think I’m insane or don’t think what I’m saying is true, then I have no interest in their retarded opinions. I really don’t.”
CBS Radio’s Cleveland radio station Q104 has taken Patsy Cline’s classic country song “Crazy” and interspersed some of Sheen’s recent quotes with the lyrics: “Charlie, you’re crazy and talking so loony/And Charlie, stop drinking and stop sniffing glue.”
Adam Wright of the blog TVDoneWright.com posted Sheen-centric parody of Kesha’s hit “Tik Tok.” The parody, titled “Hey Chuck, You Still Suck,” features the chorus:
Hey Chuck, you can’t stop
My Winning, I’m on top
Alright, let’s fight
With my fire-breathing sound-bite
Hey Chuck, you still suck
And my winning doesn’t stop, no
(oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh)
Humorist/comic artist Michael Kupperman reworked Charles M. Schulz’s first Charlie Brown comic strip and tweeted it to his Twitter followers. The strip features two kids commenting on “good ol’ Charlie Sheen” with Charlie Brown replaced by a drawing of Sheen.
“I am disgusted by his seemingly endless supply of good health!” one kid says.
Jimmy Kimmel also used good ol’ Charlie Brown to spoof Sheen. He and his Jimmy Kimmel Live staff created a new “holiday special” that an interview of Sheen talking about partying over the voices of Charlie Brown and Lucy. Watch the clip at the end of this post.
Buzzfeed.com has redone several New Yorker cartoons using Sheen quotes. One shows two dogs talking, with one saying to the other: “I probably took more drugs than anyone could survive. I was banging seven-gram rocks, because that’s how I roll. I have one speed. I have one gear: GO.”
Meanwhile, another blogger has come up with “Cats Quote Charlie Sheen,” where a Siamese kitten is pictured with the quote: “My motto now is you either love or you hate and you must do so violently.” In another photo, one kitten is seen pouncing on another with the quote: “We are high priest Vatican assassin warlocks. Boom! Print that, people!”
Surprisingly, the news parody site the Onion hasn’t weighed in since Feb. 9 — before all the recent hoopla and the Two and a Half Men shutdown — with a timeline of incidents that led up to his recent rehab, including “A physically exhausted Sheen turns to stimulants to cope with the grueling number of double takes and eyebrow raises required for his role in Two and a Half Men.”
