Charlie Sheen continued his morning talk show circuit Tuesday. A round-up of what he said:
On pressure to get Two and a Half Men back on the air (to NBC’s Today show):
“Who else is applying pressure? Jon Cryer? Angus [Jones]? Anybody? They’re just sitting at home waiting for something to happen.”
On Men co-creator Chuck Lorre and CBS execs (to ABC’s 20/20):
“It was a fake friendship. I never felt respected in a way that I should have been. … I showed up and this dude won the lottery. And so I always felt like, ‘Why am I being treated like an unwelcome relative and being given cold coffee at, like 8 PM in the middle of the fourth inning?’ … I don’t know if Chuck and I can ever work together again. But maybe guys just sit in a room and just go, ‘Look, we hate each other. Let’s continue to make some great television.’ Maybe that’s possible. I don’t know. I’m not gonna get violent on the guy. I’m not stupid. I go to jail, I lose all my power.”
On making Lorre rich (to ABC’s 20/20):
“The numbers don’t lie. Chuck was on his way back. He had a $48 million, four-year deal or something. He had three failed pilots. And they were ready to just like write him that final check and just be like, ‘Thanks, dude, we tried. But it didn’t work out.’ And then I walk in and deliver the lottery.”
On publicist Stan Rosenfield quitting (to NBC’s Today show):
“I can’t speak for him, but maybe he got overwhelmed. Maybe he felt like he wasn’t respected … I don’t know … but there’s sort of something epic about that. That it got so gnarly that Stan just went, ‘I’m out.’ That’s fine. That’s how I roll. And if it’s too gnarly for people, then buh-bye. There’s the freakin’ door, you know?”
On father, Martin Sheen, and his family’s attempt to intervene (to NBC’s Today show):
“They tried. But I said, ‘You know, I’m not ready, I’m not interested in your rhetoric right now. I appreciate your love, your compassion, if that’s what you wanna call it. But I’m 45 years old, and I’m not interested in people treating me like a 12-year-old.”
On his message to his fans (to NBC’s Today show):
“Don’t be worried. Celebrate this movement. And I love [you] and I’m so grateful that you’ve supported me and the show for so long and I will not let you down, trust me.”
On people criticizing him on Twitter (to NBC’s Today show):
“It’s sad for them. It’s like, ‘Get a job, anyone?'”
On life at his L.A. mansion with two women whom he calls “the goddesses” (to ABC’s 20/20):
“Maybe the three of us will get married. I don’t know. I’m gonna say this. It’s a polygamy story. All my guy friends are gonna like throw tomatoes at me. It’s like an organic union of the hearts.”
On his affinity for porn stars (to ABC’s 20/20):
“it’s exciting … you already know what you’re getting before you meet them. “They’re the best at what they do and I’m the best at what I do. And together it’s like, it’s on. Sorry, Middle America. Yeah, I said it.”
On why he hires prostitutes (to ABC’s 20/20):
“Who wants to deal with all the small talk and nonsense? And you’re paying for something that eliminates that. And I don’t know. It makes sense to me. As long as you’re not lying to anybody. As long as you’re not lying to people, I think whatever you’re doing, there’s no children involved in, then you’re OK. But people are going to judge it, because they’re so jealous.”
