Star-Lord may be an intergalactic rogue, but that doesn’t make him someone who’d welch on a bet.
After losing his Super Bowl bet with fellow Marvel Studios star Chris Evans, Chris Pratt — who played Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy last year — had promised to travel to Boston to visit Christopher’s Haven, a nonprofit that provides housing for families with children receiving cancer treatment at MassGeneral Hospital for Children.
Friday, he made good on his debt, posting images of his visit on his Facebook page.
Pratt (who appeared wearing his Guardians costume) wasn’t alone — Evans joined him, although not dressed as his own Marvel character, Captain America. (Although he won the bet, Evans has promised that he will visit Pratt’s choice of venue, Seattle Children’s Hospital, in the future.)
As a result of the publicity surrounding the bet, nearly $27,000 was raised for both organizations, according to a statement released Thursday.
“The generosity of Chris Evans and Chris Pratt is overwhelming,” Christopher’s Haven executive director Joyce Duvall told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “They turned a simple, friendly wager into something very significant for both Christopher’s Haven and Seattle Children’s Hospital. The fun and goodwill that they have generated will stay with the children a long time.”
