On Tuesday’s Tonight Show, Chris Rock told Jimmy Fallon about the roller coaster of emotions he experienced at the Obamas‘ White House farewell party.
Rock said he was joined at the party by Jay Z, Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder and observed, “It’s like I died and went to black heaven.”
At one point in the night he found himself speaking one-on-one with Michelle Obama
“I’m not really supposed to be alone with Michelle Obama,” laughed Rock. “That’s not really my lane. I don’t know how to talk politics.”
He said they spoke about the election and Obama expressed her concerns about what was going to happen to the country. According to Rock, she said, “I don’t know what’s going to happen. This is such a crazy time.”
His response? “You’ll be aight.” Rock joked he told her she could get any job she wanted whether that was on The View or The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“Michelle Obama looks at me like, ‘I was talking about the country. I wasn’t talking about me. I was talking about the country,'” said Rock. “I’d never felt so stupid in my life. It’s like my GED flared up.” He laughed and said Obama spotted Winfrey and ran away from him while he went off to party with Charles Barkley and Jay Z.
