Chrissy Teigen is getting candid about her pregnancy.
The model, TV host and wife to John Legend revealed in December that the pair are expecting a daughter, and she’s now sharing just how that came about. Hint: Not the natural way.
In a new interview with People, Teigen said, “I’ve made this decision. Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’”
Previously the power couple had revealed their struggles to conceive, but this IVF treatment add-on (preimplantation genetic screening, PGS, or preimplantation genetic diagnosis, PDF) is a bit controversial.
Her decision, she revealed, stemmed from wanting to see her hubby with a daughter. “I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond.”
She added that one day they’ll have a boy too. But in the meantime, he can’t wait to see the singer with a daughter, since there’s something about those dads and “how soft they get, how mushy, how excited they get. It’s so cute.” Bottom line, “This girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa — it’s crazy!”
