The Scandinavians are hot for Cold War period drama Deutschland 83.
The series, which Sundance TV recently acquired for the U.S., closed deals across the Nordic territories, with Sweden’s SVT, NRK in Norway, Denmark’s DR, YLE in Finland and RUV in Iceland picking up the show from FremantleMedia International.

The eight-part limited series is a coming-of-age tale set in Germany in 1983, in the midst of the Cold War. It stars newcomer Jonas Nay as an East German spy sent to infiltrate the West German military and gather secrets of NATO’s military strategy.
FremantleMedia screened the first two episodes of Deutschland 83 at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this month. The series was created by Anna and Jorg Winger for German commercial network RTL.
