TORONTO — Canadian cartoon producer Cookie Jar Entertainment will partner with Argentina’s Illusion Studios and Germany’s Optix Entertainment on a new “Doodlebops” TV series, this time in animation.
The “Doodlebops Rockin’ Road Show,” comprising 26 half-hours of animation already sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., follows Cookie Jar producing 65 hours of “The Doodlebops” as a live-action kids TV series. Production begins this fall.
Also Wednesday, the Ottawa International Film Festival said Pixar artist Ronnie del Carmen (“Up”), stop-motion animation whiz Henry Selick (“Coraline”) and David Silverman, director of “The Simpsons,” are to headline its upcoming Oct. 14-18 edition.
Ottawa will also feature retrospective screenings from award-winning animators Don Hertzfeldt, Stan VanDerBeek, Suzan Pitt, Jim Blashfield and Studio Film Bilder.
