Canadian animation producer Cookie Jar Entertainment on Friday said it has poached Wiebke Hoefer from rival Nelvana Ltd. to become its Paris-based director of European sales.
Hoefer was most recently director of TV and home video sales in Paris for Nelvana, responsible for German-speaking countries, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Israel.
Jean-Michel Ciszewski, senior vp of international sales and co-productions for Toronto-based Cookie Jar Enterertainment, said Hoefer will now oversee European TV and home video sales.
Before joining Toronto-based Nelvana in 2002, Hoefer worked in Berlin for X Filme Creative Pool, X Verleih and ARTE European Cultural TV.
Cookie Jar, formerly Cinar Entertainment, and Nelvana — Canada’s top two animation producers — have been fierce competitors for three decades.
Cookie Jar’s latest properties include “The Doodlebops” and “Spider Riders.” The company’s perennial hits include “Arthur” and “Caillou.”
