Core Media Group has announced it is acquiring reality production outfit Sharp Media.
The deal expands Core’s access to reality TV content. The company already owns the rights to shows like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, and by acquiring the NY-based Sharp, it will gain a company that has rights over Travel Channel’s Man v. Food, TLC’s Extreme Couponing. and Animal Planet’s Call Of The Wildman, among others.

Sharp was founded in 2003 by Matt Sharp, who will continue as the company’s CEO and says, “Our partnership with Core Media will broaden our opportunities to exploit and distribute our products by aligning us with a company that is rapidly expanding, hungry for new business and nimble enough to get deals done, all the while allowing us to continue to focus on what we do best, which is produce great content for an array of networks and audiences.”
Core Media Group is a rebrand of CKx.

At the time of the rebranding in May, the company’s president Marc Graboff announced four new management executives and said the plan was “to grow the assets we have, and cultivate new ones, to become a real presence as a platform agnostic producer and owner of content.”
