Hollywood, ‘Glee’ Co-Stars Mourn Cory Monteith

Cory Monteith’s Glee co-stars are remembering the 31-year-old actor, who died unexpectedly Saturday in a Vancouver hotel. Police have not yet given a cause of death, but no foul play is suspected.

Shortly after the news broke Saturday night, Glee’s Mark Salling tweeted “no” – and the message was soon retweeted nearly 12,000 times, with fans expressing their grief. Kristin Chenoweth tweeted “You will be loved,” while Dot-Marie Jones said she was “heartbroken.”

Others in Hollywood were also paying their respects, with Zooey Deschanel tweeting “This is such sad news about @CoryMonteith – what an absolutely tragic loss of a very talented young man.” Chloe Grace Moretz tweeted “everyone close to him and affected by this loss you’re in my prayers.”

“Our condolences go out to Cory’s family, friends and the cast and crew of Glee,” an Oxygen spokesperson said in a statement to THR. NBCUniversal-owned Oxygen has aired two seasons of The Glee Project, the competition series that sends its winner to the Fox show. Monteith served as a mentor on a season two episode.

Oxygen acquired off-network syndication rights to the series and will begin airing Glee in the fourth quarter. It was unclear if the cable network would air any tribute to the late actor.
