The producers behind The Cosby show are speaking out about allegations that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted multiple women.
“The Bill we know was a brilliant and wonderful collaborator on a show that changed the landscape of television. These recent news reports are beyond our knowledge or comprehension,” Tom Werner and Marcy Carsey said in a statement Thursday.

Their Carsey-Werner Co. found a big hit in The Cosby Show, building upon its success to build a roster that included series such as Roseanne, 3rd Rock from the Sun and That 70s Show.
Cosby has been subject to multiple resurfaced sexual assault allegations — as well as a string of new allegations — from women who allege he raped them decades ago. Cosby has denied these claims through his reps and attorneys.
The controversy has led to multiple Cosby projects being dropped, including an NBC comedy and a Netflix special, which has been postponed. TV Land has also stopped airing repeats of The Cosby Show.
