Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina is to host Canada’s Much Music Video Awards, it was announced Thursday.
The rapper turned actress will emcee Canadian TV’s biggest block party on August 26 in Toronto. She joins a performer and presenter lineup for the 2018 MMVAs that includes Shawn Mendes, Tyra Banks, Alessia Cara and Prince Michael Jackson.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
Awkwafina is a New York-based rapper who has been quickly building up an acting career, nabbing roles in Neighbors 2 and the female Ocean’s Eleven spinoff, Ocean’s 8, with Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock. She also starred in the indie comedy Dude and is developing a scripted series for Comedy Central.
The MMVAs will air live on the CTV, MTV and Much channels.
