Adorable puppies, kittens and a polar bear with a cone stuck on its head: that’s how the Daily News is responding to critics after running back-to-back controversial front pages.
Monday’s edition of the Daily News will feature the cute animals along with the headline “Everything is Awesome!”
The publication notes on the front page that the cynical effort was “To all those who have been offended by hearing the truth about the nation’s gun scourge & the NRA & the cowardly pols who think nothing is wrong.”

The bottom of the page mentions President Obama’s Sunday night Oval Office address where he talked about the need for stricter gun control in the U.S. and ending ISIS.
Last week, the Daily News was blasted by politicians and NRA advocates alike after it’s front page one day said Republicans needed to do more than offer prayers after the San Bernardino mass shooting and the defiant newspaper attracted more controversy for following up with a cover that called NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre a “terrorist.”
