In the wake of shutting down DailyCandy, NBCUniversal has named the site’s former GM, Alison Moore, to head up its TV Everywhere initiative.
Moore, a former HBO digital exec, was hired in 2012 to boost traffic at DailyCandy. When NBCUniversal confirmed that the female-focused lifestyle site, along with Television Without Pity, was shutting down last week, the company noted that Moore would remain onboard in an undetermined job.
The closing of those properties affected 67 staffers, 64 of whom worked for DailyCandy, who might be offered jobs at other NBCU properties, the company said last month.
As general manager and evp of TV Everywhere, Moore will recruit a team and develop marketing and strategy to increase adoption and engagement across the company’s portfolio of networks.
Moore will work with digital distribution evp Ron Lamprecht, who will have expanded responsibilities and work on deals with various providers and the current season TV windowing strategy for NBCUniversal’s new media platforms. Both Moore and Lamprecht will report to content distribution evp Matt Bond.
“Alison’s proven leadership in digital media — from small startups to major media companies — adds tremendous value to our rapidly evolving content distribution effort,” Bond said in a statement. “We have made tremendous strides making content available to fans when and where they want to watch it. Just last year NBCUniversal distributed 140 TV series on TV Everywhere, marking more than 50 percent growth from the previous year. Now more than 16 networks are hosting 6,000 episodes per year of the freshest and best shows. With Alison’s experience we’re going to keep growing the amount of content available to consumers and take TV Everywhere to the next level.”
