The "Community" showrunner was fired from the critically praised show.
One week after Dan Harmon was nearing a deal for a comedy pilot at Fox, the former Community showrunner has inked a new script pact with CBS, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Harmon would be treading into unfamiliar territory, scripting a multicamera comedy project that would be produced by CBS TV Studios, a departure from his single-camera series Community and The Sarah Silverman Program.
During an interview with G4’s Attack of the Show in early July, Harmon alluded to his post-Community plans, telling interviewer Marc Maron that he wanted “to be successful in television” and that it could be in the multicamera format.
Harmon was removed as showrunner of NBC’s cult comedy Community in May and is currently without a development deal.
In addition to his script deals, he has an animated comedy pilot in development for Adult Swim titled Rick & Morty that revolves around a genius inventor and his less-than-genius grandson and their life journeys. In addition, Harmon and Charlie Kaufman are working on funding (via Kickstarter) for a stop-motion film titled Anomalisa.
