The first official teaser for the Dave Grohl-directed and -produced documentary Sound City hit the web Wednesday.
The documentary, which the Foo Fighters frontman announced in May, chronicles the unfamilar Sound City recording studio in Van Nuys, California.
The short 60 second teaser has appearances by Mick Fleetwood, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Butch Vig and John Fogerty, just a small list compared to those that will be in the finished project.

Inspiration for the documentary came after Grohl purchased the Neve sound console in 2011 when Sound City closed. The console has been used in recording the sounds of Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, Rage Against the Machine and countless other rock ‘n’ roll legends. It was also used in 1991 when Grohl recorded Nirvana’s landmark album Nevermind at Sound City Studios.
“It was rock ‘n’ roll hallowed ground. And it was our best kept secret,” reads a heading on the film’s Facebook page.

In a statement to fans, Grohl also said: “Sound City is a film about America’s greatest unsung recording studio. Deep in California’s sunburnt San Fernando Valley, tucked away behind the train tracks and dilapidated warehouses, it was the birthplace of legend. Sound City is a film about the truth, the craft and the integrity of rock ‘n’ roll.“
