David Cronenberg will fly to Italy in March to be honored at the Lucca Film Festival.
Alongside a complete retrospective of his works as director, screenwriter, producer and actor, Cronenberg will be feted with an art exhibition and a symphony orchestra playing the scores of his films. He is expected to give a master class to residents of the popular tourist destination in Tuscany and to participate in a variety of conferences.
“Following our success last year with David Lynch as guest star, Lucca Film Festival is growing exponentially and is well on its way to becoming a major cinematographic event in Italy and beyond, a cultural event of international prestige that links winter and spring,” said Nicola Borrelli, president of the festival.

The retrospective will screen Cronenberg’s entire catalog of feature films, dating back to his 1969 debut Stereo and including his latest release, Maps to the Stars.
Alongside Lynch, previous editions of the festival have honored Abel Ferrara, Peter Greenaway, Alan Clarke and Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Last year Lynch used the occasion to drop clues about the upcoming Twin Peaks reboot.
The 11th edition of the Lucca Film Festival takes place March 15-21.
