Dear White People‘s Ashley Blaine Featherson has signed with ICM Partners, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
She has reprised her character from Justin Simien’s acclaimed 2014 indie for his Netflix series adaptation. As protagonist Sam’s best friend, Joelle Brooks, Featherson has a standout moment in season two singing Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone” and is the only castmember featured on the show’s soundtrack.
Featherson will next reunite with Simien for his upcoming feature Bad Hair. Her previous credits include Macro’s digital series Leimert Park, which premiered as part of Sundance’s 2018 Indie Episodic Program and was praised by THR television critic Daniel Fienberg. She also created Hello Cupid with Lena Waithe and starred in the 2013 webseries.
Featherson continues to be represented by Principal Entertainment and Fox Rothschild.
