Celebrity Apprentice star and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider will release Dee Does Broadway on Tuesday, May 8, featuring special guests like Clay Aiken (“Luck Be a Lady”), Cyndi Lauper (“Big Spender”) and Patti LuPone (“Tonight/Somewhere”) performing rock ‘n’ roll renditions of several Broadway classics.
The concept for the album originated with Broadway-themed voicemails that were exchanged between Snider and Alice Cooper as well as Snider’s 2010 run in the musical Rock of Ages. The rocker also enlisted the help of producers Bob Kulick and Brett Chassen, with whom he worked with on a metal-inspired Frank Sinatra tribute called Sin-atra.

Composer and arranger Doug Katsaros and bassist Rudy Sarzo were brought in to transform for these timeless songs of the Great White Way into rock ballads fit for a rock star. Says Snider: “There are many who think doing an album of rocked out show tunes is pure insanity on my part. Apparently, they haven’t seen any photos of me from the 70s and 80s … Ever since I was a kid, I’d heard the real power inherent in a lot of songs from musicals and this record gives me the chance to show it.”

While he may have a broken finger from his Medieval Times antics on Celebrity Apprentice, Snider’s spirit is fully intact and he prepares to push the boundaries of rock ‘n’ roll once again. The new album will coincide with the release of his first ever autobiography, Shut Up and Give Me The Mic.
