TORONTO – Denis Villeneuve’s An Enemy, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, is to start shooting in Toronto next week.

Also headed to Toronto is the 13-episode Netflix streaming series Hemlock Grove, which is shifting from nearby Pittsburgh.

Villeneuve’s An Enemy, based on the José Saramago novel The Double, is set to shoot at the Cinespace studio on Kipling avenue from May 22 through July 13.

The Canada-Spain co-production sees Gyllenhaal play a character who sees himself in a DVD film he rents, and then sets out to find his double.

Canadian producer Rhombus Media is producing An Enemy with Spanish partner Roxbury Pictures.

Meanwhile, Hemlock Grove, produced by Gaumont International Television and set in Pittsburgh, is scouting locations in Toronto because of uncertainty over the Pennsylvania film tax credit.
