Derek Zoolander, fictional model, has landed not one, but four unique covers for Esquire UK‘s upcoming March issue. Unlike the February Vogue cover, which featured Ben Stiller as himself (though giving great Blue Steel), the headlines on Esquire’s cover read, “The biggest name in menswear … Derek Zoolander.” An accompanying video gives a behind-the-scenes look at Zoolander’s cover shoot, where the model opens up about his career and why he chose to be photographed in his “ping-pong” outfit. Two new museums dedicated to the life of famed French designer Yves Saint Laurent are set to open in 2017. The first museum, based in Paris, is located at the designer’s former office space, while the second location in Marrakech was chosen because the designer considered the city his “adopted home.” Both spaces will give fans an up-close and personal look at thousands of the couturier’s designs as well as relics from his personal life. American Apparel may have dodged the Dov Charney bullet, but they’re not out of the woods just yet. The latest development in their recovery is the news that founders of the Oaks brand, which was acquired by American Apparel in 2013, has been repurchased by its founders during American Apparel’s bankruptcy proceedings. The founders, who have maintained creative control since the acquisition, noted that the brand’s aesthetic won’t change much moving forward. [Fashionista]
Sophia Loren’s commercial for Dolce & Gabbana’s latest fragrance, Dolce Rosa Excelsa, has premiered in full. The short video, which was teased earlier this month, stars the 81-year-old as an Italian matriarch overlooking her five grown boys as they restore the family home. There is, inexplicably, a scene in which the underwear-clad brothers hose each other down in the garden. Just putting it out there. [Dolce & Gabbana]
