Desus Nice and The Kid Mero’s collaboration with Timberland has arrived.
The stars of Showtime’s late-night Desus & Mero, who have long shown their love for the brand, designed two Timberland specials: a six-inch premium waterproof boot from Desus, and a six-inch waterproof field boot from Mero. The design from Desus features black leather, contrasting white stitching and original tan boot laces. The top is contrasted by a salt-and-pepper design, gray and red pull tabs and composition notebook-style label signed by the “Bodega Boys.”
For Mero, his collab is said to pay homage to his Bronx roots. It features his nickname, “East Tremont Stevie B,” on the tongue, and the traditional Timberland outsole with a bold yellow midsole, padded collar and rustproof hardware. Custom graffiti art on the quarter panel and summer squash logo stamp harken back to Mero’s personal signature.
“Growing up in the Bronx, we wore Timbs for every occasion,” said Desus Nice and The Kid Mero in a statement announcing the line’s debut, which they said is a “lifetime” in the making. “There’s a boot for everything — school, graffiti, watching our beloved hometown teams, and of course… the beach.
As part of the launch, the duo will partner with Timberland for a one-day Saturday school course that will offer kids from Bronx-based schools the chance to take courses in such fields as yoga, mental health, creative writing and graffiti art. The program is planned for December.
“Desus and Mero have been long-time fans of the brand and seeing what it has meant to them over the years has been inspiring,” shared Drieke Leenknegt, Timberland’s vp of global marketing. “Our iconic boots are built to get people outside, play hard and make a positive difference in the world. Desus and Mero embody that same authenticity and we couldn’t be more excited for them to interpret their creative vision in a way only they know how and give back to the local Bronx community all at the same time.”
