The Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Thursday announced they will begin formal contract negotiations on Dec. 5. The parties have been engaged in informal discussions to define the issues for negotiations for the 2017 theatrical and television agreements.
As usual, the DGA and the AMPTP also have agreed that neither organization will comment further to the press regarding negotiations until an announcement has been made.
The current DGA agreements expire June 30, as do SAG-AFTRA’s TV/theatrical agreements. The Writers Guild of America agreement expires May 1.
