Greg Economou has been named executive vp & chief revenue officer for Dick Clark Productions, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. DC Media President Michael Mahan announced the hire Tuesday.
In the newly created position, Economou’s job will be to drive revenues from all of the Dick Clark produced events and properties, including high profile award shows such as the American Music Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
“Greg is a proven leader with integrated selling experience and a phenomenal record in revenue generation, said Mahan. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and will play an important role in connecting brands with entertainment in innovative and meaningful ways across multiple DCP properties.”

“It’s an exciting time at Dick Clark productions,” said Economou, “and I look forward to helping further develop each of the DCP projects by integrating state-of-the-art strategies and partnership platforms.”
Economou most recently was executive vp of revenue performance for Madison Square Garden, where he worked in everything from sports to entertainment.
Before that, Economou was executive vp of business operations for Bobcats Sports & Entertainment in Charlotte, North Carolina. He managed all business operations for the NBA team and the arena, including marketing, sales and implementing commercial strategies.

Before that Economou worked for the NBA as senior vp of marketing and communications. He was also a founder of Brandthink in 2001, a management consulting firm where he served as CEO. He has also played roles for SFX Sports and SME Branding.
Economou started in sports as a basketball player with the University of Connecticut, where he also served as assistant director of athletics development, and was a pro basketball player in Greece.
