“I wanted to instantly draw attention to the eyes by creating a very strong graphic look,” says Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, who created the block-like shadow design that models wore down the Christian Dior fall 2015 catwalk at Paris Fashion Week. Mission accomplished, we say.

“It’s a combination of a rather feminine subtlety and clear, distinct lines,” he continues. “This association reflects the spirit of the collection, which lies between the expression of fluid femininity and an accentuated graphic statement.”
To pair with the elegant collection, Philips concentrated on autumnal-hued eyes, along with luminous skin. “Eyeshadow was applied in a dense block across the upper eyelid in a choice of khaki or plum from the Palette 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Exuberante, or in bronze and brown from the Palette 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eclectic. The large half-moon shaped design was done with a pre-dampened sponge applicator for maximum coverage,” says the veteran makeup artist.

He also used Dior Pro Liner pen along the lash line, and used loads of mascara for a “false lash effect” — two coats of Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum followed by three coats of Diorshow Pro Black mascara to be exact.
To further enhance the eyes, lips were kept to a minimum. “I used the Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Concealer stick here as it give both coverage and moisture,” says Phillips. “It neutralizes lip color for a natural, blended look.”

Finally, the beauty look was completed by each model getting a different color nail lacquer applied to each hand. “Multiple color combinations ranged from the deep black of Black Out to the metallic blue of Darling Blue, the grey green of Metropolis, the milky rosewood of Cosmopolite and the intense Bordeaux of the legendary Nuit 1947,” he says.
