Sigourney Weaver and French actress Isabelle Huppert were among the BFFs (Bold Face Fashionistas) at Raf Simons’ Dior couture show held in Paris on Jan. 21.
The front row also included Prometheus and original Girl With a Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace, Sin City’s Jessica Alba, actress-model Laetitia Casta and Kick Ass 2 star Chloe Grace Moretz.

Weaver revealed to WWD why she and Huppert attended the Spring/Summer 2012 collection: Simons will be dressing both actresses for their new film The Body Artist, directed by Italian director Luca Guadagnino and based on a 2001 novella by the same name written by Don DeLillo.

Huppert plays the title role of Lauren Hartke, a body artist who undergoes a dramatically abnormal grieving process when her much older husband, Rey Robles, kills himself. Weaver will play a journalist in the film.
The novella is often described as a ghost story because of an enigmatic apparition Lauren discovers hiding in an upstairs room.
This won’t be Simons’ first foray into film costume. He received rave reviews for his I Am Love (2009) costumes worn by Tilda Swinton. At the time, he was designing for the house of Jil Sander. The film’s costume design department head, Antonella Cannarozzi, was nominated for an Oscar for the film.

But this is Simons’ first film since he took the reins at Dior after John Galliano was dismissed for making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris bar.
Considering the time and pressure involved in designing ready-to-wear and couture for such a prestigious house, it’s impressive that Simons has the time for film costumes.
