After hosting its previous cruise collection stateside in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dior has decided to head home for its 2016 show. Though the fashion house originally planned for the show to be in Los Angeles on May 9, WWD reported this morning that Dior has changed both the date and location of the show, opting for the French Riviera on May 11, instead. The venue has yet to be disclosed.

Many are speculating that the decision to change locations was a strategic move to attract the Hollywood stars who will be attending the Cannes Film Festival, which begins two days later, on May 13. If this is true, the French fashion house wouldn’t be the only label to try and draw the movie-star crowd to its shows. After moving his fall 2015 show, which was held two days prior to the Oscars, from London to Los Angeles, Tom Ford‘s front row was chock-full of attention-grabbing famous faces including Miley Cyrus, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lopez.
With major star power already repping the brand, including Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron, it wouldn’t be a stretch to consider whether the French luxury label is looking to attract even more celebrities.
With Chanel’s cruise collection show in Seoul, South Korea, on May 4 and Louis Vuitton’s resort show in Palm Springs on May 6, fashion editors definitely will have a jam-packed travel schedule. Better start packing.
