
Discovery Communications boss David Zaslav made $49.9 million in 2012, slightly below the $52.4 million that he had earned in 2011. But that was enough to see him yet again rank just behind Moonves in terms of compensation for bosses of big entertainment companies. The year-over-year drop was due to changes in the value of his stock options, even as the company’s shares rose more than 50 percent last year.

Discovery Communications paid CEO David Zaslav $33.3 million in 2013, down from the $49.9 million he made a year before.
Zaslav’s compensation fell because in 2012 he was awarded $25.3 million in stock awards and in 2013 he wasn’t awarded any, though his option awards increased to $22.5 million from $15.8 million a year earlier.
in 2013, the company posted a 23 percent rise in revenue to $5.5 billion and a 14 percent increase to $1.1 billion in “net income available to Discovery Communications.”
Discovery stock advanced 42 percent in 2013, outpacing the 30 percent gain made by the S&P 500.
Andrew Warren, the CFO, earned $4.4 million, up from $3.8 million.
Mark Hollinger, the CEO of Discovery Networks International, earned $8 million, up from $ 6 million a year earlier.
Bruce Campbell, general counsel and chief development officer, earned $5.1 million, up from $3.7 million.
Chairman John Hendricks was paid $7.8 million, up from $1.8 million a year before.
