TORONTO – Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium is getting its own outdoor NHL game.
The Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings will host the Anaheim Ducks in a regular-season game at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25, the pro league said Monday.
The outdoor hockey game in the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers will be the first played in the Western U.S. market and a first for California.

“Dodger Stadium has been home to many unique and special moments over the past 51 years,” said Dodgers president Stan Kasten in a statement.
“We’ll add another first in 2014 when the Dodger Stadium infield turns to ice as we host our first National Hockey League game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks,” he added of the long-standing rivalry between the Southern California NHL teams.
The infield at Dodger Stadium will be turned to ice for the outdoor hockey game, with Kings fans getting a view of Chavez Ravine overlooking downtown Los Angeles and the San Gabriel mountains during the NHL action.
The Kings ironically were part of the NHL’s first foray outdoors when they played in an exhibition game against the New York Rangers in the parking lot of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Sept. 27, 1991.
Playing in 85-degree weather, the Kings defeated the Rangers 5-2 during that historic game.
